More pix from the 2013 Toronto Jazz Festival, The Herbaliser,Paul James,Selena Evangeline

The last few days of the 2013 TD Toronto Jazz Festival was a kind of a Daze. I was buzzing around like a bee all over the place. From The Great Hall, to the Main Stage at Nathan Philips Square, to the outdoor stages in the Distillery District, plus a few other pubs and bars inbetween. The last night of the festival I found myself completely spent at Ronnie Hayward’s 3rd Annual Birthday Jam @ Dominion on Queen. I was too exhausted to take any pix! Of course it was 3 in the morning though.

I was going to shoot the Boz Scaggs show but they wanted us to sign a ‘Rights-Grab’ form, so they would own the images. No thanks! Luckily, the opener was local favorite Paul James, who doesn’t have any misgivings about photos, and put on a great entertaining performance, as is usual for Paul, he never dissapoints.

On the final full day of the fest, I decided I must see how things where going at the Distillery District. They had two stages setup, one in a more relaxed outdoor patio setting, the Pure Spirits Patio and the other, the Trinity Stage, a more traditional performance bandshell.

Well, that’s about it for what I captured during this 2013 version of the Toronto Jazz Festival. Check out my previous posts for other pix and rambling’s from the festival. Thanks!

2013 Toronto Jazz Festival Trombone Shorty & Planet Earth

Trombone Shorty

Midway through the jazz festival and one of the bands I’ve been waiting to see again is on the Main Stage at Nathan Philips Square, Trombone Shorty & Orleans Avenue! An amazing band with an amazing frontman! Truly entertaining and worth putting on your calender the next time they come around if you missed it.

Opening things up was local funksters Planet Earth. They got the night rolling with their blend of funk,R&B & soul. They have been a local favorite playing numerous shows in and around town since 1998. I checked a web link for them to find more shows but it was all in Japanese, so something is amiss there, but they have a Facebook page to check out.
