54-40, Grapes of Wrath, Julian Taylor : Danforth Music Hall Oct 2014

A great night of classic tunes at the Danforth Music Hall when 54-40 and the Grapes of Wrath , both legendary Canadian bands, played to a packed house. Both have new albums out now so we heard a great selection of both old hits and new ideas.

The warm-up act, Julian Taylor started things off

Freakin Great Show! There is a little story to this show for me, I was offered a extra ticket at face value to check these bands out. Although I know their music and have some albums, I have never seen them perform live before. Awesome! Then I had to get on the horn to see if I could get a photo-pass to get my camera in. The Danforth MH is known to not let anybody in with a pro-looking camera without credentials. So I sent out requests to both bands publicists thinking I was probably a little late to get this request in.

Just as I was set to head out the door sans camera, I pressed ‘check email’ one last time and lo and behold! “AOK on the pass, check in at Will Call” from the guys in the Grapes of Wrath camp. Schweeeet!

So without further mumbo-jumbo, here are the results of that live shoot at the DMH. Thank you and enjoy!

After this show, I headed over to the Horseshoe Tavern to see Dr Lonnie Smith. This was a treat! I probably would never have heard of this guy, if it wasn’t for this years festival. Exceptional!
