What is becoming a great tradition, is the Christmas Food Drive at the Blue Goose Tavern in Mimico, hosted by Virgil Scott. A truck-load of non-persishable goods where collected, they had to keep emptying the overflowing container! Way to go guys!
I wasn’t sure I was even going to make it to this Sunday afternoon treat, but as fate would have it, and since I usually have my camera with me, I dropped in to an already packed house!
Virgil and the house band, The Pie Guys, kicked things off with some festive tunes, this week’s special guest Tony Paglia, kept up the Christmas time vibe.
There was a slew of other special guest’s, including trombonist Phil Gray and jazz/soul singer, with a short stint on the drums- Mary McKay.
Check out the pix and there is also a video I did. It’s a little too red in colour balance, which is something I’ve been trying to overcome with the predominate red lighting in most venues. Hopefully I’ll get it right next time. But it is a great performance.
enjoy & Merry Christmas and all the best for the New year!
